Lead Us Not Into Temptation...

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one (Matthew 6:13)
Greetings,
We are tempted everyday with some form of enticement. It really all depends on what our vice is and how much of a stronghold it has on us.
My vice could be stealing and your vice could be lying. It could be that piece of chocolate cake drenched in whip cream or that young sexy woman in the black dress. Trust me temptation comes in all forms because we all have that something that we just got to have. Power you say, or maybe lots of money, maybe sex with someone other than your spouse, maybe slothfulness could be that subtle little sin that keeps us from reaching our full potential.
Whatever it may be the first thing is to recognize it and not be in denial. Be honest with God and most of all with yourself. I have to say that I love amazingly delicious food and over the years I have put on extra weight. I have been eating healthier and getting more fit with my Fitbit and exercise, but every now and then I just have to have that delicious piece of fried fish or chicken with that potato salad, mac and cheese and candid yams. Come on now you all know what I'm talking about. I already know that I can't eat rich soul food everyday because there will be consequences that I'm not going to like, and that goes with anything else that may be tempting in life.
Temptation always starts off many times as just this one cigarette that turns into a pack a day habit. We don't want to get caught up because the end result of anything that would lead us down the wrong path is death. It says in Romans 6:21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death!
But be encouraged in knowing that I Corinthians 10:13 says "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it". Praise God and thank you Jesus that you have made a way for us. We are not in this world alone, and we have a helper that we can depend on.
As always, thanks for the visit and keep looking up!!!
